What is Base Work?

Base work is the process of preparing your desired area for paving with ground leveling and drainage, building a base with breaker rocks, grading & compacting and finally letting the area settle for final paving.

Just like a good house, you need a good foundation. To asphalt, you need good base work to give your chip seal or asphalt paving the best chance at longevity. Kickin Asphalt take the necessary steps to ensure that the initial work is done correctly before the final paving is done. 

Leveling and setting up for drainage is essential to helping to avoid future issues like puddling water. Base work is dependent on each unique job, this can range from an 8-10 inch base or more depending the ground your dealing with. Once that is finished, grading and compacting follows to help the surface for the correct drainage. finally we want to let the materials settle before final paving to allow the materials the time to settle in.
